Although the symptoms usually do not develop until decades after exposure, asbestos can give rise to serious industrial diseases in workers from a number of industry sectors.
Many of these illnesses – for example, mesothelioma – can prove fatal and go on to devastate the lives of both families and communities.
If you or a family member were ever employed as a factory worker and believe that exposure to asbestos during any period of employment has caused the development of an asbestos-related illness, then it is important you understand your right to claim compensation.

The clear and documented cancer risk among asbestos factory workers
In 2000 the Department of Public Health and Community Medicine from the University of Sydney published data that documented cancer deaths among asbestos factory workers in East London.
The study, which looked at the experiences of 5000 factory workers over a thirty-year period found that there was a "large excess of deaths due to cancer" (537 were observed in the factory workers compared to the 222 that would be expected in the non-asbestos factory worker population). Of these deaths many were of pleural and peritoneal mesothelioma, while there was also a significantly higher than expected incidence of colon cancer.
Factory worker claims with the Asbestos Claim Centre
Fortunately, the importation, supply and use of asbestos was banned in 1999. However, up until the 1980s the substance was used in many factory-type workplaces in the UK. If you worked in one of these and have been affected by exposure in your workplace, contact Asbestos Claim Centre today.
The specialists at Asbestos Claim Centre can quickly help you determine whether it might be in your interests to pursue compensation; this is true whether you are the person who has been diagnosed with an asbestos-related illness or whether you are a family member who has recently lost a loved one to mesothelioma or another form of asbestos cancer.
We are happy to discuss your circumstances and there will never be any obligation placed on you to go ahead with a claim.
