In September 2009 Asbestos Claim Centre were contacted by Mr C to advise him on his recent diagnosis with Mesothelioma, a serious asbestos related cancer. Asbestos Claim Centre was able to refer Mr C to an expert industrial disease Solicitor in London to make a claim for compensation against his former employers.
During his working career Mr C had worked as a welder and spent much of his time either installing, maintaining or repairing boilers in power stations around the UK. Between 1967 and 1971 the client was regularly exposed to airborne asbestos dust without being provided with any respiratory protection nor was he given any warnings about the dangers of unprotected asbestos exposure.
The client had moved to Turkey with his wife in 2006 and was worried that this may affect his case however our expert Solicitors were able to prove the clients exposure to asbestos dust in the UK.
From the time of the client's sudden diagnosis in September 2009 his condition deteriorated very quickly and sadly, Mr C passed away in December 2009. Mr C's widow took on the claim on behalf of her husband's estate.
Due to the client's decreased life expectancy, our experts Solicitors’ were able to secure compensation in the sum of £160k from the negligent employers, just 4 months after the initial instructions. This compensation award will not bring Mr C back; however, he was happy in knowing that his compensation award would mean that his wife and his son were financially secure after his passing.
